Tara: Short stories written in English and Russian

Learning a new language we do not just enlarge our vocabulary with another portion of new words and phrases, we can grasp something mysterious, a kind of talent to catch something that has escaped; we can embellish our imagination with new shades, colors and unknown smells…. That is why I have decided to publish the stories both in English and Russian. 

All the stories are different: some are a bit sad; the others are vice versa funny and cool. You are going to read about searching for life purpose, loneliness, relationship, emotions existing in the wild world and mysteries of things. You will be able to find a fantasy-like story introducing you into the world of the most exalted and splendid feelings – love and friendship, it will tell you about growing up and learning the world. These stories are about nothing and at the same time about everything. The main idea is to catch the essence and get into the spirit.

The Forest and the Farm

Billi has always been different, and how could he not be? A man with one leg was uncommon enough. Then a three-legged Hound, Rabbit, came from the Forest and sat by his wheelchair, and he had to learn to be a Hunter. Paired for life, Hunters and Hounds are vital to their Village for hunting and protection in the Forest. They share a wordless song which allows them to know each other’s moods and warn of danger. Rules about the Farm and Forest keep the villagers safe – no living tree can be cut, and any man without a Hound is prey once in the Forest. 

But an unexpected turn of events leads Billi into new territory. A solitary life evolves as he explores the Forest and finds friends in unlikely places. Now Billi must learn about gifts, chasing, catching and sparkuls as he includes others in his life. Light on magic, but big on heart, Billi’s story rings a chord with anyone who’s ever felt they don’t fit in.

Wynton's World

I was inspired by my four year old to write this book. Told by illustrations, and limited text, it's all about what happens in his world, and the people, places, and things he experiences. I wrote the book keeping in mind a parent reading it out loud to a child.
